CLEVELAND, OH – The “truth” being left out of the story about the home of Akron Councilwoman Tara Mosley’s mother being shot at twice is the date of the first shooting. July 5, 2021.
That night the Progressive politician and her mother were harboring a fugitive at 1290 Seventh Avenue who Akron police wanted for killing a woman in front of her children. Her name was Occa Onia Bernice Edison and Franklin Delano Lewis is her killer. He’s the councilwoman’s nephew and it was his grandmother’s home that’s now been targeted twice with a very deliberate message.

When police arrived at her home to arrest Lewis strings were pulled to “protect his rights.” They were refused entry into the politician’s residence without a warrant. Attorney Eddie Sipplen stepped in to arrange for his surrender the next day. Attorney John Greven was given the court appointment to represent Lewis but in August Sipplen made an August 17th appearance after he was “retained” by the councilwoman’s nephew.
What the public learned after Lewis slew the young mother of four was that he had been wanted by Akron Municipal Court since March 13, 2021 when retired Cleveland Judge Ralph Perk, Jr. issued a warrant for his arrest. Lewis had been charged with assault and aggravated menacing for another attack on Edison. He had no business being anywhere near her on July 5th.
The second shooting at Mosley’s mother’s home occured on October 5, 2021. It came the day after Lewis’ pre-trial was scheduled for continuance on October 4th upon request of assistant prosecuting attorney. There’s no journal entry, yet, for what transpired at the hearing, but a fourth is scheduled for November 8th.

Mosley played herself up as a crime victim after her mother’s home was struck with bullets inside and out. She issued a statement about the plague of gun violence without mentioning her nephew’s gun violence towards the mother of the children whose life, love and support he viciously snatched from them.
“Gun violence has plagued our communities for far too long and clearly no one is immune from the danger it presents- something I have learned firsthand. My family and neighbors have felt the threats of gun violence from our very homes twice now in the past six months. But this is nothing out of the ordinary for families throughout our city. This is happening not only in our backyard, but across the state and throughout the country. Unfortunately, neighborhoods like mine, like yours, are being made to feel unsafe with neighbors fearful in our own homes, on our porches and even as we sleep. We are hopeful that in this case the Akron Police will bring the individuals responsible to justice, sooner than later for the safety of our neighborhood and the families like mine who live here. Gun violence must be addressed in a meaningful way. Immediately. I say this as a victim of gun violence, a mother, a local leader and as an Akronite.“
Mosley’s “statement” seems hypocritical in light of an allegation from a source that Akron police and prosecutors don’t have the gun her nephew used to take Edison’s life. Somehow it disappeared between 1431 Minson Way, Mosley’s mother’s home and jail.

Lewis has been charged with murder, felonious assault and domestic violence in 35-year-old Edison’s death as he leaves her four children without their mother. There’s no public record of Mosley reaching out to Anthony Edison, Leon Goodwin, A’myla Ruiz, A’uscere Ruiz to ask if they need support or to express her remorse for her nephew’s deadly act of gun violence.
Edison is a Canton, Ohio native and the daughter of Dannie Lee Edison and James Sumpter. She graduated from Timken High School. Her father, James, and two brothers, Anthony Edison and Tyrone Sumpter, are deceased.
The streets of Akron are saying the Progressive woman politician, Dennis Kucinich’s lieutenant governor running mate, Bernie Sanders and Nina Turner surrogate has been using her political connections to help a killer in her family. The missing gun allegation EJBNEWS learned of from a source points the finger of suspicion at Mosley and her mother in a very “family first” way.

Last September 2020, Mosley “played bad” when she filmed her mother shouting “fuck all your crackers” from the porch of her Seventh Avenue home. Mosley has claimed her father was a Caucasian man. She warned Americans protesting her vote limiting the number of family members who could enter their homes during the holidays that she had called her family.
Mosley’s threat of family violence towards Americans expressing their First Amendment rights came across as one of those “Uh oh. Y’all gonna get it now” moments. When a couple of males from her family arrived the instigation from the Progressive politician didn’t let up.
In her statement Mosley described herself as a “local leader” instead of a “public servant.” Leaders see themselves and their loved ones as having rights above the laws. Communists tried to hide themselves as Progressives before during the very early 1900’s. What Communists have contributed to America, already, is mass graves with anti-American Negro riots in over 40 cities from 1917 through 1925.
Someone doesn’t give two shits about Mosley being an elected official or Akron police for her home to be shot up twice. With one family member in jail for murder she’s got one less “Billy Badass” relative to call if she ever needs their support.
If Mosley wants to address gun violence now is the time. If EJBNEWS’ source is correct then police and prosecutor’s need her nephew’s gun in order to deliver justice to Edison’s children and family.
