CLEVELAND, OH – The state’s lawmakers made it clear to individuals applying for public jobs as employees of the Ohio Highway Patrol that their law enforcement duties in Title 55 of the revised code were limited to enforcing laws and investigating accidents “outside municipal corporations” on the state’s roads and highways. They have authority to patrol roads and investigate accidents in townships. Two sections of R.C. 5503.02 gives them the authority to enforce “criminal laws” inside municipal corporations. One is only at the request of the county’s sheriff or a mayor whose city was facing riot, insurrection or civil disorder. …

CLEVELAND, OH – Secretary of State Frank LaRose should ask former Russian-American U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach why he had Diebold CEO Walden O’Dell in a position to learn and didn’t investigate if he’d placed the technology to rig electronic voting software and equipment that could control Ohio elections in 46 of 88 counties in the hands of the Russian Federation. The Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) initiated an investigation of Diebold in 2005 for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. A complaint was filed against Diebold in 2010 that the Canton corporation settled in 2014 for $48 million after…

CLEVELAND, OH – “Enough is enough” is the clear message coming from Mayor Frank Jackson’s office. Jackson’s top administrator, Valarie McCall, told EJBNEWS the mayor wants the Plain Dealer and cleveland.com to retract the Mark Naymik lie that he isn’t showing up for work because he’s caring for his wife. McCall said Jackson is at work daily and Naymik’s report that he isn’t is false. It’s especially false, she said, since Naymik and other journalists have been given Jackson’s schedule. McCall said Naymik and three other reporters from local media outlets wanted to keep tabs on the mayor, so they…

EUCLID, OH – College educator Richard Montgomery, Phd. had barely announced his plans to seek the city’s job as mayor when a group of residents who wanted to maintain the racial status quo joined a social media group’s conversation about splitting or “diverting” the black vote. Their conversation was shared outside the group. Euclid residents on both sides reacted angrily to the vote-splitting plan they were conceiving. A black participant was particularly scorned by other black residents for agreeing to help their vote-splitting scheme to create an “ebony and ivory” ticket with a “solid” candidate other than Montgomery. A candidate…

LAKEWOOD, OH – For the next 15 years Kenneth R. Bolton has to register with the county he lives in as a sex offender because he rubbed a dildo between the legs of two women stopped for an East Cleveland traffic violation in 2017. Bolton was convicted in October 2017 and sentenced to 6 months at Allen Oakwood Correctional Institute in Lima. Bolton’s attorney, Fernando Mack, filed for judicial release to get the sex freak ex-cop out of jail after two months. He’s now living in Lakewood on Woodward. His wife, Tiffany, finally got a probate judge to dissolve the…

EAST CLEVELAND, OH – The twice-convicted police captain leading East Cleveland’s detective bureau may soon find himself facing new criminal charges after Ohio’s State Employee Relations Board (SERB) investigates why Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #39 is still in existence. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) automatically revoked FOP Lodge #39’s tax-exempt status in 2013 after its president, Captain Scott Gardner, failed to file required 990 tax returns in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The last 990 was filed for 2009. EJBNEWS has learned no 990’s were filed between 2010 and 2018. For the past 10 years Gardner and other Lodge #39 officials…

CLEVELAND, OH – Armond Budish didn’t show up to receive the humanitarian award from Rev. E. Theophilis Caviness’ local Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) chapter that it cost him $5000 in campaign donations to buy. Caviness’ “award for cash” civil rights honor to Budish was seen as a political move and wrong by Euclid NAACP chapter President Cassandra McDonald so she wrote him a polite letter with a request that he reconsider. Caviness wrote back a two-page indignant response. The first page identified his own biography and inserted his sole connection to Rev. King. He met the younger pastor in…

EAST CLEVELAND, OH – Municipal court Judge William Dawson told EJBNEWS it was the city’s contracted lawyer, Willa Hemmons, who withdrew a “dereliction of duty” complaint against three Cleveland police officers she charged for failing to supervise the more than 100 cops that entered the city in violation of the state’s warrantless pursuit law on November 29, 2012. Thirteen Cleveland cops drew their weapons on Timothy Russell and his passenger, Malissa Williams, and gunned them down in a hail of 137 bullets. Ex-Cleveland cop Michael Brelo stood on the hood of Russell’s car and fired 47 rounds into their bodies;…

CLEVELAND, OH – Uh oh. A game of presidential “dozens.” Jared Kushner should have a pretty good idea of how his wife Ivana Trump-Kushner, Jr. might look in her 70’s based on her mother, Ivanka Sr.’s sagging-plasticized appearance. If he’s not screwing other women already, he’s got his POTUS father-in-law’s “grab ’em by the pussy” ethics as an example for how he’s allowed to roll if she starts looking as hard as her Trump-worn-looking mother. Donald be hard on his women. Magazines that follow celebrities have been keeping tabs on the well-photographed “daddy’s little tag-along” Ivanka since before she was…

EAST CLEVELAND, OH – Roger Ashley’s murder makes no sense. He and his brother left together after a November 19th family visit and decided to stop at the GAS USA across from Shaw High School and the Sunoco. His brother said “the best corned beef sandwiches are in the ‘hood.” Ashley, 38, lived in Euclid but was raised in East Cleveland and liked corned beef sandwiches. The stop was routine. The events that took his life were not. The alleged shooter was already in the store when the two men arrived after 1:30 a.m. Roger went to order a sandwich. …

CLEVELAND, OH – While federal agencies are investigating officials in Cleveland, East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and the Cuyahoga County “land bank” for accepting “things of value” from individuals representing companies doing business with the local governments, Ward 7 Councilman Basheer Jones used the office of a councilman to shake down the down owners of Dave’s Supermarket for 50 baskets of food. https://www.facebook.com/BasheerJonesofficial/videos/534470893720896/ Jones’ “shake down” of Dave’s came less than a week after building department employees were ordered by Mayor Frank Jackson to stop taking asking for and receiving gift cards and food from individuals representing companies doing business…

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge’s appointment to chair the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Elections elevates her nationally as a congressional investigator just like the man whose 11th Congressional District footsteps she follows. The late Louis Stokes, investigated the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Rep. Fudge in 2019 will be investigating the nation’s elections. After the November 8, 2018 general elections Fudge talked with EJBNEWS and said she decided to challenge U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi for a seat as Speaker of the House knowing it would be a challenge to win. Pelosi…

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Lance Mason has been charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and violation of a protection order for killing the mother of his two daughters, Aisha Fraser, on November 19. But just like in 2014 when the county’s judges took a pass on presiding over their former judicial colleague’s domestic violence trial, citing conflicts of interest, Mason’s been assigned a judge from Stark County who’s been blasted for giving a sex-offending school teacher 30 days in jail for having sex with a student. The ex-judge entered a plea of “not guilty” and was held on a $5…

CLEVELAND, OH – The City of Cleveland is now clearly known as the site where candidate Donald Trump’s ex-attorney, Michael Cohen, told Special Counsel Robert Mueller and federal investigators that “colluding” players met in 2016 to discuss a way to give a $50 million bribe to Russian President Vladmir Putin. Lifting sanctions against the Russian government was also on the table for a Cleveland discussion. So was a way to undermine Hillary Clinton’s presidential nomination within the Democratic Party. The convenience of a partnership with the Cleveland law firm of Squire, Patton & Boggs (formerly Squire, Sanders & Dempsey) John Adams…

CLEVELAND, OH – Some African Americans think Dan Gilbert is “cool” because he’s from Detroit, Michigan, owns an NBA team that Lebron James’ talent made money; and is seen in pictures with a lot of prominent black folk he gives money. What’s not “cool” about Gilbert is how he’s redlined Cleveland’s black neighborhoods out of his Quickens Loans lending equation like every other racist lender in the local housing loan marketplace. Cleveland’s “Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research” released a report in July 2018 this town’s mainstream media ignored. The report co-authored by Michael Lepley and Lenore Mangiarelli was…

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – American Negro residents of the state’s largest county have been complaining that the county treasurer’s foreclosure process was unconstitutional and rigged against them ever since greedy Greek American lawyers James Rokakis and Gus Frangos wrote state laws to let the treasurer’s office they led sell delinquent property tax bills to third party investors in 1997. There have been complaints that landbank employees and friends of Rokakis and Frangos have taken advantage of the public offices they hold and political relationships for their pick of the more than 100,000 homes taken from others since 2006 for pennies…

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH – The story emerging about Lance Mason’s relationship with ex-wife Aisha Fraser is that he was the type of man a man who loved women would not want dating or marrying his sister. He wasn’t physically violent. Lance was controlling and verbally abusive. The disturbing description of their marriage EJBNEWS learned of came in part from the political community of people who knew Lance and Aisha, but who were closer to him and knew “of” her. Some knew all four of the parents who raised both Lance and Aisha in Shaker Heights, Ohio where they attended high…

EAST CLEVELAND, OH – Witnesses are starting to receive notices from Ohio Attorney General Richard Michael DeWine to appear in the civil trial next year of George Michael Riley and Christine Beynon for operating an illegal construction and demolition debris dump in a densely-populated urban neighborhood and behind residential homes. The trial is scheduled for June 24, 2019 in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and has been assigned to Judge Sean Gallagher. DeWine wants Riley and Beynon to pay $10,000 a day in fines for every day they were in violation of state laws that prohibitted illegal dumping. EJBNEWS obtained…

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH – Ronald B. Williams is from Atlanta, Georgia but had moved to New York to work and was relocating to Cleveland, Ohio to marry Aisha Fraser. On his Facebook page Williams makes reference to Fraser ” living in fear and being trapped by circumstances and responsibilities, so much that you couldn’t even save your own life, you had to depend on others.” Williams’ thoughts amplify the concerns of another person who now thinks Mason’s words had a different meaning when he shared with her that he couldn’t see himself without “his” family before he nearly decapitated his ex-wife in…

CLEVELAND, OH – Nicole Delamotte got it in her mind to reach out to an uncle who didn’t stay in touch with “the family” and the family didn’t stay in touch with him. The 30-year-old well-liked reporter hadn’t seen him in 15 years. Delamotte had fond memories of her father’s brother, so her Facebook post on October 14, 2018 describes a newly-found courage from being a reporter that emboldened her to go up to someone’s door she didn’t know and knock on it. The Facebook post generated 262 categories of “likes” and 11 comments from friends. None thought of asking…

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH – The niece of Successnet founder George Fraser told her ex-husband she was planning to remarry and that her fiance` was moving in with her and their two daughters before he stabbed her to death. In ex-Judge Lance Mason’s mind the chance for the reconciliation he wanted with ex-wife and Shaker Heights 6th grade teacher Aisha Fraser-Mason was over. So was her life when he stabbed her in the neck in front of their children. So was his. The Shaker Heights tragedy has twice shocked greater Cleveland’s black community among the people who knew them both. No…

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH – Ex-Judge Lance Mason stabbed his ex-wife in the neck early on November 17th and texted a friend to tell her he was contacting his attorney, Fernando Mack, to surrender to police. The ex-judge was at his ex-wife’s home at 17611 Chagrin Boulevard when he stabbed her to death in front of their two children and left in a panic; hitting a police officer as he drove away. The friend said Mason had been working to rebuild his life since his release from prison in June 2016. Both Mason’s parent’s died before his incarceration. His brother, Lauren, died…

CLEVELAND, OH – Robert J. Delamotte, 67, appeared to be living a quiet life in the Friendly Village mobile home park in Wood County, Ohio’s Perrysburg Township, until his niece, Nicole Delamotte-Ullman, tracked him down and paid him a visit. There doesn’t appear to be anything nefarious about Nicole’s reasons for reaching out to an uncle she described in a Facebook post on October 14, 2018 as not having seen in 15 years. Nicole’s grandmother had died on on September 21, 2018 and it took her to her hometown in Toledo on October 13th to attend her funeral. According to…

CLEVELAND, OH – The AdvanceOhio chief executive who normally has a lot to say in controlled media settings about the city’s political affairs and public figures was unusually terse in his email to EJBNEWS that sought his response to Cleveland councilman Kenneth Johnson’s description of stories by reporter Mark Naymik as “fake news.” The independent website also asked Quinn if he would identify AdvanceOhio’s political, institutional and corporate clients; and the articles and acts that have been created to support their campaigns. “I will not be responding to your inquiries,” Quinn wrote as he copied AdvanceOhio employees George Rodrigue, Elizabeth Sullivan…

CLEVELAND, OH – Mark Naymik has authored a series of critical stories on cleveland.com as an AdvanceOhio employee that have targeted Ward 4 Councilman Kenneth Johnson as being responsible for acts that have been performed by employees supervised by mayors Frank Jackson, Jane Campbell, Michael R. White and George Voinovich. Naymik’s reporting creates the “illusion” that Johnson is engaged in wrongdoing; but in 5-stories he hasn’t identified by statute a single local, state or federal law the Ward 4 councilman has violated as one member of a 17-member legislative body. Under Ohio law and Cleveland’s charter Johnson’s only authority is…

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – The FOX NEWS report written by Caleb Parke that Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan lead a “death to America” chant in Tehran, Iran is a lie. FOX NEWS commentator Alan Dershowitz made himself look like a complete fool on national television by asking Democrats to condemn Farrakhan for comments that he not only didn’t make, but that appeared to piss him off when asked to lead it by a PRESS TV reporter. The Final Call released a complete audio-recording of his November 8, 2018 news conference in Tehran at Press TV’s offices. When a Press…

ST. LOUIS, MO – County police are claiming her son Danye Jones’ death is a suicide. Activist Melissa McKinnies says the county’s cops are wasting their time. Her son didn’t commit suicide. He was lynched. Investigating a suicide instead of a murder is letting the murderer’s trail go cold, she believes. McKinnies held a news conference on November 11, 2018 and posted two images of her dead son on Facebook to dramatize the urgency of her demand; and to motivate police and the public to treat the investigation accordingly. There’s no way Danye Jones was “ready to leave his mother,”…

AKRON, OH – James Anthony has a right as an American citizen to his personal and racial biases and political views, and the public has a right to evaluate them to determine his fitness for the job he holds as a member of the Akron police department. Last week Anthony posted a comment on his Facebook page and shared a deadly thought about Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan. Anthony wanted to know why he hadn’t been “offed.” It’s doubtful that Anthony knows anything about Farrakhan other than how he’s been portrayed in the “white” media. His thoughts reflect a…

EAST CLEVELAND, OH – The General Assembly of Ohio gave the Auditor of State the duty of auditing every government agency “inside” the state annually or a minimum of every two years. East Cleveland’s 2014 audit was released on May 15, 2018 three years after David Yost in his official capacity was supposed to deliver it. The city is in fiscal emergency for the second time since 1988. Betty Montgomery was the Republican state auditor who released the city from fiscal emergency in February 2006. But she did it without providing the incoming mayor and council with a current…

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – One day after FBI agents visited the Cuyahoga County jail, warden Eric Ivey stopped citizens being held for trial or serving time from making and receiving telephone calls. Control room deputies conducted a “red zone” lock down on outgoing and incoming calls throughout the day. Those jailed were told two men were caught talking after 11 p.m. the same night FBI agents visited the jail. The next day phones that are normally available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. to inmates who purchase $25 phone cards were silenced. Sources said rule violations usually…

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Six U.S. citizens dying while in custody under elected County Executive Armond Budish and appointed Sheriff Clifford Pinkney brought an October 30 visit to the jail by FBI agents under U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman’s direction who want to know why. EJBNEWS learned from a man being held while awaiting trial that he and other people locked up were interviewed by FBI agents about jail conditions. The man said federal agents also interviewed county corrections officers. According to the detained man, a U.S. citizen, FBI agents witnessed the overcrowding in the 2000 person facility and had to…

AKRON, OH – Civil rights-violating Akron cop Natalie Tassone has made Patrick King a poster child for why Issue 1 should pass if word about his arrest gets around the state. Tassone is asking Akron prosecutors to support her claim that the 3 grams of marijuana she found on him justified him being tazed, beaten down and arrested. Tassone was administered an oath of office on February 8, 2012 to perform the duties of a police officer found in R.C. 737.11. She swore to obey and enforce all federal, state and local criminal laws. The Supreme Court of Ohio affirmed…

CLEVELAND, OH – Rev. Jesse Jackson couldn’t believe his eyes when he walked into the newsrooms of the Plain Dealer and Columbus Dispatch this past June. He didn’t see a single black journalist in the Plain Dealer’s newsroom and saw only one at the Columbus Dispatch. Both newspapers operate in the two Ohio counties with the most black residents. Plain Dealer editor George Rodrigue met with Jackson and cleveland.com editor Chris Quinn. Columbus Dispatch editor Alan Miller told Jackson he couldn’t find any black journalists. Jackson left Ohio and shared what he’d discovered with writers at a National Association of…

AKRON, OH – The statement from Akron police regarding their armed violent attack on U.S. veteran Patrick King reads like a crime confession in preparation for a federal investigation and indictments of cops for conspiring to violate his civil rights under the “color of law.” Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan would do well to study the U.S. Department of Justice’s investigation of Cleveland’s police department and see why calls for a federal investigation of the corrupt police department he oversees are justified and long overdue. If Chief of Police Ken Ball evaluates the acts committed by the cops who beat King…

BEACHWOOD, OH – Russian American Beverly Goldstein completely missed how the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) defines “literacy” when she and her Russian American husband, attorney Michael Goldstein, claimed 66 percent of Cleveland’s adults are “illiterate” and “can’t read.” Had either Goldstein read how “literacy” is measured by the federal government she’s seeking a seat in the U.S. Congress to write, amend, repeal and vote on legislation both would have known their comments were “illiterate.” U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge chose not to respond to Goldstein’s disrespectful comments because she knows the USDOE measures three types of literacy in adults between…

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – Police always have a reason to justify using force on unarmed citizens that in their “protect a fellow officer” mindset makes sense. Coral Springs police are supposed to be investigating evidence to learn if a cop who took two swings at an unarmed and restrained 14-year-old girl’s liver was justified in his use of force. The “rumor control” statement they uploaded to Twitter before the investigation is over supports the use of force by a male cop while ignoring a smaller female cop’s decision not to use it. The statement foreshadows what is expected to…

Detroit police chief James Craig has launched a criminal investigation of how two funeral home operators in the city were storing instead of disposing of dead fetuses. 63 were found at the Perry Funeral Home on Trumbull Road. Another 11 were found stored in a ceiling at the Cantrell Funeral Home on Mack Avenue. Nether funeral home operator has been charged with improperly storing and disposing of human remains. Craig in an October 19th news conference said the discovery has triggered interest in a task force that involves state and federal police and prosecutors. He said the U.S. Department of…

By ERIC JONATHAN BREWER CLEVELAND, OH – Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s investigation of sexually-deviant Catholic priests who abused his state’s residents were transferred to parishes in Johnstown and Altoona from dioceses in Ohio. Dan Tierney of Ohio Attorney General Richard Michael DeWine’s office confirmed to EJBNEWS that his boss has been contacted by prosecutors working for Shapiro. Tierney said Pennsylvania prosecutors are investigating how priests who should have been criminally-charged for known sex offenses in Ohio escaped prosecution so they could be reassigned to prey on the residents of Shapiro’s state and others. Across the nation state attorney generals…

CLEVELAND, OH – The man in the yellow t-shirt is lifelong Cleveland and Ward 7 resident Robert Tinsley. His Facebook Live video shows him voicing his concerns about youth violence only to have the microphone taken from him by councilman and South Euclid resident Basheer Jones. https://www.facebook.com/robert.tinsley.1044/videos/444658382724590/ Jones didn’t want to hear what Tinsley had to say at a corner lot where he claimed he was operating his ward office out of a tent to hear resident concerns and draw attention to youth violence. When Tinsley started talking to Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Chairwoman Chontel Brown, the two-day temporary resident…

By ERIC JONATHAN BREWER CLEVELAND, OH – A 33-page HUD Office of Inspector General (HUD OIG) audit of how Rainbow Terrace’s Connecticut owners have spent federal money to manage the nearly all-black low-income housing estate shows them unable to prove expenses while overcharging the federal government for management fees. The total amount of money misappropriated by the management company is $2.3 million and HUD wants it back. The HUD OIG audit was released from the Chicago, Illinois regional office on September 28, 2018. Russian American Vesta CEO Arthur N.K. Greenblatt responded through attorney Michael Price, but the response didn’t alter the…
